Length of arm

A home owner from Salt Lake City, Utah says:
I need a left casement operator. The length of the upright arm in the picture is 4 1/2, but I only see a 5 inch and a 3 1/5 inch available on your site. Could you direct me to the correct operator. The number on the operator is L30841 (Truth).
It is more than 30 years old.

Casey from SWISCO responded:

Hello,

This looks like an older version of our 39-035 and 39-036 operators. The link arms of our replacements measure 3-15/16" long from the rivet to the center of the hole at the end of the arm. You can try installing it as is and it may work just fine. If not, you could adjust the placement of the bracket on the sash to make up for the difference in length or swap out the shorter arm with the original by riveting it to the new operator. Take a look and see what you think.
