Milgard Non-tilt Window

Quick Learner from San Francisco
Hello, the rope portion of my window balance ripped from its hope. The metal portion of the balance is 29" long by 1/2" wide.
I see the following markings: "28-11 LJ5 CMC 34". Please help me locate a replacement. Thanks!

Hello! We can supply this balance, but it will have to be a custom order due to its configuration. Before I go any further, though, can you just confirm how many you need? Once I know that, I will email you a purchase link and price quote that you can use to place an order on our site.

Thanks! It's for one sash. I should replace both balances at the same time so they work well together (even though only one balance is broken. FYI, the sash weighs 32 lbs, so I assume each balance should support 16 lbs?

Yes, we always recommend replacing both balances at the same time.

As for spring calibration, these balances aren't weighted individually. It's a little complicated, but the long and short of it is that the calibration for these springs is explicitly set assuming both balances are sharing the load between them. They are both rated for 32 pounds, but that only works if you have both installed; a single balance wouldn't be able to hold up a 16 pound sash by itself, for example.

Hopefully that makes sense. That's one of the main reasons we recommend replacing them both at the same time.
