What is the range for which both sides can be mounted apart while still functional? I have thick weather stripping between my two front doors and would need a gap of approximately 1 and 3/8" between both sides of the hardware. Many thanks.

I just checked the 42-011 and it appears that the gap between the mounting brackets has to be 1". The ball catch on the one bracket has to line up with the wide part in the arm so that it can engage the arm track. I believe that the 1-3/8" gap would be too wide to work with this door guard.
