Need Pt# for Spiral Balance

Landlord from Tampa, FL
I have a non tilt window with a Spiral Balance. It is 5/8" dia with a white tip. Length of tube is 24". At the end, where the spiral shaft comes out I have a round hole at the very end with a small rectangle slot beside it. Is this your 500 series? Do you have an drawing or video showing how to connect the spiral shaft end to the frame? When I started to repair window the spiral shaft end was just hanging and I did not see an attachment point from the spiral to the window.

It's very difficult trying to reinstall the bow tie clip in your broken balance, speaking from personal experience. Honestly, your easiest solution would probably just be replacing your balance with our S500-24 spiral balance entirely. I would suggest our red tip to replace your older white tip balance. The clip that the Series 500 attaches to is on the side of the sash. Finally, our 75-004 tool should make the job even easier for you.

With someone helping you, you will need to drop the new balance in from the top of the sash, screw it in at the top, then let the spiral drop down. You will then raise the sash and, while someone holds the sash in the open position, spin the spiral up to the bottom of the sash. Finally, with our 75-004 tool, give the balance about three turns to charge it and lock it to the end into the sash clip.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
