Non-Tilt Window Channel Balances

Home Owner from Parker, CO
Hi,

We need to fix our home window's channel balance that just snapped last week. Ours looks like the Series 800 3/8" Channel Balances but just wanted to make sure by confirming with you guys. I'm attaching photos. Please let me know & I'd also like to know how the ordering process goes with you guys for these parts.

Hello,

Unfortunately, the S800 would not be a suitable replacement for your assembly. We can supply your replacement balances but it will need to be a custom order due to the length, extended travel pulley system and unique combination of end attachments.

To confirm the correct replacement, we would need to see a side profile photo of the bottom fitting that has a wheel inside of it shown in your second photo. Also, please confirm the stamp code printed on the metal channel of your balance, as well as the number of balances you'd like to order with the minimum being two. Thank you!

Thanks for getting back to me. Here are more pictures of that bottom part. Could you please tell me where the stamp code might be? I didn't see anything on the metal channel. I'd like to order two as a set. Could you also give me the estimated price, time & everything before you place the order? Thank you.

Thank you for the additional photos. The stamp code is etched into the flat part of the metal channel above the bottom fitting. A bit of it is visible in the first image in your most recent batch of photos.

Wow, that was really hard to see. I tried to get the best lighting on it. Is this what you needed?

Perfect, we just sent over an order link and price quote for the balances you requested in a separate email. Take a look and let us know if you need anything else. Thank you!

Hi, I hope this will still notify you with the previous message history since some time has passed. I need the same channels I ordered before because another window just broke in my house. Can you please help me order the correct one? I'm sure the same channels are used across the house right? Thank you.

Hello,

We'd be happy to send you an updated order link but I would recommend removing one of the balances from the window to confirm that both end attachments and the metal pulley clip match the images that you posted in this thread. You'll also need to check the stamp code on the metal channel to determine if it is the same 25 5 or if you need a different strength option to support the weight of the sash. Thank you.

Home Owner
Thanks for getting back. I didn't get any email notification that you replied so I just checked your message. The channels are currently stuck jammed & we were unable to get those out. But I managed to take a photo where the number is stamped & it does say 25 5. Also, do you have any tips for removing jammed channels? The right side channel balance is raised all the way up & it's stuck that way. It's raised way past & covering the clip you use to get the channel balances out. Do you have any possible solutions for that? Thank you.

Take a look at the video below that shows our recommendations for dealing with a jammed non-tilt window due to broken top sash guides. If you wind up needing new guides as well, feel free to get back to us with photos of an undamaged part removed from one of your windows.
As for your balance, we just sent over an updated order link and price quote for the same balances you purchased from us previously. Although the stamp code is the same, I would still recommend removing a balance from the jammed window to confirm that the end fittings are identical before purchasing replacements.

Thank you that really helped. We were actually able to fix it after taking them out & reinstalling the window. But it would be nice to keep a pair as extras so we're still interested in ordering. I took some pictures of the end parts, do these help?

That's great to hear. We can't be positive with the balance still installed but it does look like this window also uses extended-travel balances. As long as both fittings and the pulley clip match the ones that you originally purchased replacements for, you should be good to go.
