Question about skylight operator

A home owner from waterford Ct says:
Prior to purchasing three of your skylight operators(39-379) with eyelet adapters 39-247. I need to know what type of an opening if any, there is in the metal hook (39-214). I have a 3/8 solid rod cranking pole I can adapt to most anything. Just easier knowing whats available.

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
How about taking a look at the universal joint with the pole ring attached, our 39-336. Could this be what you are looking for?
A handy person from Waterford, Ct says:
Sent you a question about fitting up a 39-247 hook to a 3/8"dia 5ft skylight rod by drilling out the 11/32"spline and pining the the 39-247 hook to the rod. Does this sound good, only need to open up 1/32". Straight shot to the skylights can't see the need for a universal joint.
