Before we go any further, though, I will need more information. Please start by removing the balance from the window entirely and showing me a clear picture of the top end, bottom end, and the metal clip at the end of the cord. Please also tell me how many you needed altogether.
It also seems your top sash guide is missing. You'll need that if you want the balance to function. Honestly, your balance may even be in good working condition still. The problem may be just that you have no top sash guides.

Thank you. Your old top sash guide appears to be an older, discontinued model. We don't have anything exactly like it but our 18-009 is very similar. You may be able to use this as a replacement but it will require trimming down the top edges so that it will fit in the sash. Look it over and see what you think.
