Right between the two shoes

Handy Person from Florida
I'm sure my window balances are either the Series 351 or Series 390. But my shoe measurement is 1-1/16" from front to back, exactly in the middle of the two balances.
And that shoe size is the only way these two balances are different.
Which way should I go?

Hello!

It's always possible that your shoe was worn down a bit over time but you could always measure the shoe of an identical balance if you want to confirm the measurement of your bottom fitting. Let me know if that helps.

The balances came off of windows in my home that were very rarely opened so I do not think they were very worn. The balances on the upper sashes are the same size and they were never opened. Please see the enclosed picture and advise. You can see these are 1-1/16" where as the options on the 351 and 390 are 1" and 1-1/8".

I'm afraid it's very difficult to get measurements from photos. Could you triple check that measurement for us?

checked it four times, that's what it is 1-1/16"

The depth of your old shoe was almost certainly something like 1-1/8" and wore down over time. It's not like you would see the wear or anything, we're only talking about very small fractions of an inch. Either way, I've never seen a shoe in this style with a 1-1/16" depth before and I'm not sure if that was ever made.

The decision is ultimately yours, but in all likelihood you have the Series 390. If you want peace of mind you can see our return policy here.
