Rivnut or "insert nut" needed

A quick learner from Dallas, Texas says:
I am creating a "reach hook" where a 3/4" wood dowel is being drilled on one end with a 3/16" drill bit to a length of 1" to accommodate a 1/8" brass hanger hook that has threads. I really want to secure an "insert nut" into the drilled end of the dowel to allow me to screw the hanger hook into same. What size "insert nut" do you recommend? What is available?
