Screen spring pins

Home Owner from CONNECTICUT

I have screens from 2003 and the manufacturer went bankrupt (Bonneville in 2009). I need replacement pins, but nothing matches the size pin I need.

The inside screen frame hole is 3/16 inch wide, and the outside frame hole is 1/4 inch, or maybe 7/32. The problem is the inside (3/16) hole.

The problem is that on current replacement pins, the shaft width of 1/8 inch width is to narrow for the 3/16 inside hole and the spring just slides through the hole. The spring on the shaft does not engage the frame, but rather just slides through the to big 3/16 hole.

I am told 3/16 is obsolete. I can only find 1/8, which does not work. The 1/16 matters. I need either a wider shaft or at least a wider spring. Very frustrating over 1/16.

Looking at the two pins we carry (the 70-008 and 70-009), they both use the same size spring. I'm not sure how to get around the hole being too large. Your best bet might be to drill new holes near the existing holes in your screen frame. Consider our 70-008 pin and 75-503 drill bit. Also look at the related videos. Take note that these pins are 1-1/2" long and used on 3/4" wide face screen frame.

thank you for the advice. Looks like i will have to drill new holes and use new pins. Videos are helpful too. I think the slot in the window frame for the pin is long enough to have me move the new pin a little and still engage the frame slot with the new pin, even though it will be a little off center of the slot.
