These limited travel possibly shimming screw posts have a slot for adjusting in and out. The wide face at the other end presses against the rough framing. What are they called ,what is their purpose and why are they in the way of replacing the coil shoe and constant force coil springs?

Hello,

I have recently replaced coil balances in a vinyl window and those jamb adjuster screws were a pain to work around. I was tempted to remove them but I left them in. They are used to keep the jamb flush when the window is first installed. As long as your window is operating properly with the new coil balances, there's no need to worry. If your window track is not lined up correctly, you could remove the side wood trim on the inside of the window jamb and slip in some wood shims.

You should be able to use jamb spreaders like our 75-069 to work around the jamb liner screw. Just keep in mind that they are quite costly and are not able to be returned for a refund. To identify the correct replacement for your balance assembly, we would need to see your pivot shoe and coil springs removed from the window to compare to our inventory. See the videos related on this page to assist you.
