Spiral balance, window feet, and window pivot bars.

Landlord from St. Petersburg, fl

Hello,

I would like to order the parts to get this sash back to normal. Balance looks to be 11" long, 3/8" wide. No color identifiable on tip of balance. The window pivot bars have rusted and broken off inside window feet. Please help with choosing correct parts.window is 36" wide by 25" high.

Thank you

Hiten

Hello, Hiten. I will do my best to help you find these parts, but I will need more information from you if it is at all possible.

First, do you have an undamaged version of this pivot bar that I can look at? The one in these photos is just too damaged to make out. Seeing a good pivot bar will also allow me to recommend a pivot shoe that will be compatible with it, so it'll kill two birds with one stone.

The spiral balance sounds like a Series 900, which is also 3/8" in diameter, but 11" isn't a stock size. Can you confirm the weight of the sash? Since there's no tip color, we will need that to calibrate the proper calibration of the spring. Once I have that I will look into the availability of such a short tube.

Hello Tom,
I will provide a couple pics of pivot bars from the bedroom windows to see if they provide some clarity. If that doesn't work, Is it possible to order a matching pair of pivot bars & pivot shoes?

That's where it gets a little tricky. Each individual pivot shoe is compatible with a ton of different pivot bars, and vice versa. Not only that, but just because a pivot bar and pivot shoe go together doesn't mean they're going to fit in your window. There are a lot of factors to consider, which ultimately means that we can't just put anything in your window. We have to make sure it's as close to the original setup as possible.
