Tilt window cord?

A home owner from Avon, OH says:
We have a 14 yr old Ryan home with tilt in Patriot Windows. On one of the windows, the "string" on the right hand side has broken and the window is very hard to open and it doesn't move easily. Not sure where to look for replacement parts.

Thank you

Tom from SWISCO responded:
The issue is the balance, of which that cord is only one component. I will need you to remove your sash from the window and take a picture of the balance mechanism so that we can identify a good match.

Finally getting around to handling this . . . how exactly does one remove the sash from the window?

Tom from SWISCO responded:
If this is a tilt window, you should be able to raise the sash a few inches, tilt the window in, then twist it out.
A home owner from Avon, OH says:
OK - am I twisting the window out and taking a picture of it? Yes - it is a tilt window.

Yes, we need to see the balance on either side of the window, installed in the jamb track. Removing the sash will allow us to see as much of it as possible. Keep in mind this is just the first step; once we've identified the balance, we will likely have more questions and may need more pictures.

Not sure if these are the pics that you are looking for. If not, I'll try again tonight.

thank you!

I've received your pictures, but I'm afraid they do not show the balance. The balance should be a spring mechanism in that track you show.

OK - I'll try and see what I can do tonight

LOL - it's me again. I'm attaching two pictures and hoping that they are what you are looking for. The 2nd attachment (Kitchen Window 4) shows the piece that should attach to a screw in the top of the window frame.
If these are still not correct, I'll go back to the drawing board!

Thank you!

It's still hard to say, as I can't see the bottom of the balance. Does it have a "T" shaped shoe? If so, see the video below. I think this will give you a good idea of how to remove your kind of balance.
