Top latch

This is a top slide latch. That's all that's left. I think it had a flat cap.

I'm not sure I'm familiar with this tilt latch myself. It looks to be pretty old. Would you happen to know who made the window? Would you also be able to show me an undamaged version, or are they all pretty much in this condition?

Usually in cases like these I opt for a surface-mount tilt latch. These are substitutes that would just screw right to the top of the sash. However in your case that may not be possible, since it looks like a huge hole is leftover by the latch itself. That may be an issue.

For now see if you can get me that information. I just don't want to get your hopes up: this may not be something we can help with.
