Traco Tilt Window top trim/filler cap

Handy Person from Chicago
I have tilt Traco windows in a condo in Chicago and there is a black plastic cap on the top of each tilt window on each end next to the spiral balance. One of the caps is missing and I need a replacement. See the photos attached. Do you have these caps and what are they called?

I also replied to an existing thread that had a photo of these windows and caps. The reference number I received was D53347.

Looks like you need a top sash guide of some kind. We do sell some top sash guides for spiral balances, but before I make a recommendation I will need you to remove an undamaged version and show me a clear picture of it by itself and without obstruction. Please also show it to me from the front and side; think of it like a mugshot.

From there, I will do my best to see if anything in our inventory matches.

Ok, thanks Tom....Ive got two questions before I remove this:

1. You referred to this piece as a guide. Does the spiral balance rest in this guide to keep it in place? It just looks to me as though the spiral balance is rubbing on the edge of this "guide."

2. Do you think this guide just pulls straight up to remove it or is it likely attached in a way that I need to tilt the window in and remove some screws or "snap" it out?

Thanks for the help......

Spiral balance top sash guides work a little differently than for other balances. It doesn't keep the balance in place, but I do believe it helps keep the sash stable as it slides up and down. As for how to remove it, it's almost certainly held in with a screw. Removal of the sash will be necessary. To get a better idea of how these look, you can see our complete selection here.
