Unknown window channel balancer

Handy Person from Richmond, VA

Cannot find any manufacturer labels or spring rating stamps anywhere on this part. One picture I could not send (reached limit) was of the clip that is attached to the actual window bottom, can send in another email if needed.

Balancer looks to be 32" long, by 1/2" wide x 9/16" height.

Thank you, Tom

I'm afraid that I don't immediately recognize this balance. It's a bit too damaged to properly identify. Would it be possible to see one that's still in whole condition?

I'm chiefly interested in whatever guide, shoe, or, clip was at the end of the cord. that is one of the most important determining factors when it comes to finding a match for these, as it dictates how the balance connects to the sash.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately I can't show you a unbroken balancer as removing one is like tripping a mousetrap. I have added some pics showing the clip that attaches to the bottom of the sash it attaches to the balancer via the string that broke. There is one balancer on each side of the window. Hope the pics help .

Wow! That is one old-fashioned clip. Seeing this is a huge help, though I'm suddenly less optimistic that we can get this for you.

Please give me a little more time to see if I can track this piece down and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Hey there, I think I recognize this connector piece. That looks like a sash clip used on wood sashes I've come across once or twice in the past. It's a very old part and, to my knowledge, not made anymore. This isn't something that we can supply.

If these are indeed wood sashes like I suspect, and the balance came out of a jamb liner, then I recommend removing one of those jamb liners and taking it to your nearest mill work. They should be able to set you up with new jamb liners and balances entirely. Hopefully hardware that's a bit more modern, which would make future repairs easier.

Thanks for your efforts the sash is wood but the liners are plastic. My house was built in 1990 so we are not talking an old house here. Looks like I will have to live with using a block of wood to keep the window open or just replace the windows in the house $$$.

Most wood windows use vinyl jamb liners, so that's normal. A mill work should still be able to assist you.
