What do you call this part?

It is sold in length and you cut what you need. The old one was brittle and most of it broke when the glass was changed out. The handyman re-used some of the pieces which is why it does not go across the full window length.

This is called glazing bead. Remove a sample and compare its end profile with our selection here. Let me know if you think one of these might work for you.

Thanks, Bob. Is there no way to determine which type it is without removing it? I don't have the skills to remove it so that will require another visit from the handyman.

I'm afraid not. There's too much variation with glazing bead shape to say otherwise. The video below shows how to remove and replace glazing, if you're up for it. In any event, once you remove a sample, you can send us a picture of its end profile, and we'll do our best to find a match for you.
