Window Parts

Quick Learner from Somerset, NJ
Having trouble locating parts for my windows, the company who made them Capitol Products went out of business may years ago. The part number I found on the balance is 283088081. Basically what has happened is the windows can open, but cannot stay open on their own, if not propped open, they slam shut. Not sure if I need anything else besides the balance, my HOA manager gave me a list of items they used to keep handy and do not have anymore. Plastic Top Sash Guides, Channel Balance, Top End Attach, Bottom End Attach. Most companies I've called are not repairing right now so I may just have to hire a handyman to do it, because replacing is not in my budget right now.

We may be able to help, but we're definitely going to need more information. What I can tell you now is that your balances are definitely the culprit, but it also looks like you're missing some top sash guides.

Before I can recommend anything, though, I need you to remove an undamaged version of each of these parts and show me a clear picture of it out of the window and without obstruction. That number you gave me doesn't correspond to anything in our database so we have to work off of physical details. That's generally how we do things anyway, it tends to be more reliable.

When you remove your balance from the window, please take a clear picture of the top end, bottom end, stamp, and the hook at the end of the cord. For the top sash guide, I need to see it from the front and side; think of it like a mug shot.

I must stress that the hardware you show me must be in undamaged condition. The more pieces that are broken off and missing, the harder it will be for us to find a match.
