Window Repair Parts

Handy Person from Billings MT
Looking for parts to repair this window shown in the photos. The sash and frame are wood but the nylon track is seems to be spring loaded to keep pressure on the window. The window goes up but falls right back down. Can you help?

Sounds like you need new balances. We should be able to help, but your balance is a little too obscured for me to accurately ID. There should be a shoe of some kind at the bottom, probably at the end of a cord. If so, can you show me a clear picture of that shoe without obstruction?

If it's possible to see the whole balance removed, that would be an even bigger help, but I understand if that's more work than you wanted to put into it without a replacement on-hand. For now I can work around that, but I do need to see that shoe at the very least.

Hi and thank you for your response. I cannot remove the shoe without damaging the guide, and I do not know how these windows come apart. Can you advise me on partial dis-assembly so I can remove the shoe without damaging the window. Perhaps a video. This window has wood sashes and frame with nylon and aluminum vertical guides. No idea what brand... Sorry.

Best Regards,

Bob

Sure, I think I can help with that. So, my working theory right now is that you have something like our Series 751. This is just an educated guess, but it seems that your balance works in more or less the same way; the only thing I'm not sure about are the particularities of the assembly itself.

We happen to have a video guide on how this balance can be removed from the window that you may find helpful. I will share it below.

Thank you for your efforts, the window is just too old.
