Window Sash Balance

A home owner from Oklahoma City says:
I've ordered window parts from Swisco before, so I thought I'd come back.

All my windows have these type of balances, but one window won't stay up at all. I believe both sashes are broken. The tube, alone, measures 20.5 inches. I did not see a tube stamp at all. Based on your website, it appears to be a hybrid balance. I'm sure you know this, but the part at the end flexes from 90 degrees to 180 degrees. This is very unscientific, but I let the bottom sash rest on a food scale, and the weight was 7 lbs 10 oz. There was no resistances, as the balances were broken.

I don't know if your system permits you to look at links, but I have a Google Photos album with more pics. If not, I can send more.

Thanks for posting. This balance reminds me of our Series 500; however the Series 500 is typically used to replace old balances in wood windows, so I am not certain if this is correct. The Series 500 typically uses either the 17-007 or the 17-012 brackets, but I am not sure if the one on your balance could be replaced by either. Still, this is the closest match I believe we have, so take a look and let me know if you think it could work at you. If your balance is 20-1/2" long, you could round up to the S500-21 21" balance. Let me know if you have any questions.

A home owner from Oklahoma City says:
From what you've stated, S500-21 and 17-012 look to be a good potential fit. From what I've read, the red tip would be best for my situation.

Attached a few more photos of the connecting end. At one point I know there was a plastic piece on the end. It was whiteish thick plastic. It was too shattered to put together to show you.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, based on what you're showing me, I think the S500-21 and the 17-012 are our closest matches. Let me know if you have any other questions, and thanks a lot for your business.
