Aloha, looking for a window balance 9/16 x 9/16 x 25". All I really need is the little broken block but happy to order a pair of balances if you have them. Came out of a window labeled "Integrity"
Thank you
Bill

Hello, Bill. Looks like a new tilt window balance. We very likely have a match for this but your model here is a bit too damaged to ID. Would you happen to have an undamaged version I can review? I specifically need to see the bottom attachment at the end of the cord and a better idea of how it installs at the top of the track.
Please let me know if that's possible and we can work from there.
I'm afraid that is not recommended. You really don't want to mess with the pulley system or springs in the channel. They're under so much pressure that you risk hurting yourself; figure that the spring is solid steel and has 20-30 pounds constantly straining against the pulley. If you try to remove it from a new balance then that spring is going to shoot back and hit you in the face. I've actually seen it happen and it's not something you want to experience, trust me.
In all cases like yours, the recommended course of action is to just replace the balance itself. No manufacturer or contractor would recommend replacing the spring and pulley by itself. There are too many risks involved. Even if you were able to successfully get a new pulley in there, the tension would never be the same and they'd never work right.
I highly suggest just replacing the entire balance.
Great. In that case, I will still need to see an undamaged version of the balance as requested on the 29th. It is not possible to identify what you need based on your balance's current condition.
The string missing is the biggest obstacle right now. That string will have a clip or shoe at the end of it that's used to connect to the sash and right now that is probably the most important detail. Without seeing that clip, there is no way that we can identify what you need. Right now there are simply too many different balance configurations that use the base channel that you're showing here.
It's the attachments and components that define a balance Series, since they determine how it interacts with the window frame and sash. The only thing the metal channel does is hold the spring and pulley and is more or less the same for dozens of different balances. It alone cannot be used for identification purposes.
