Window can't stay up, have coil balances

A home owner says:
My window can be lifted, but comes crashing down after a few minutes. There are no markings on the window for the manufacturer.

After taking a look at the window that will not stay up, it seems to be the only one in the house that has the coil spring attached to the shoe with a screw. Any reason why this window would be the only one like this? What parts should I replace to keaep the window up?

The coil balance is 0.5" wide and stamped with 832. The shoe has no markings.

Thanks for posting, and for the clear pictures. Judging by what you have here, it looks like the coil has broken away from the pivot shoe. If that is the case, you may just need the shoe. Take a look at our 15-180 and compare it to your own hardware. Do you think this would work?
