Window crank handle

Quick Learner from Hueytown, Alabama 35023
Hello, I have what I believe to be a pre 1970 window dual arm , crank handle assembly. There are no identifying logo's or part numbers of any kind that would help to identify the manufacturer that I can see . I am missing the crank handle and want to replace it if possible. The handle hole has n inner sleeve. Inside diameter of the hole with the inner sleeve measures 5 / 16" of one inch, and 3 / 8" without. There are no threads inside the hole which appears round with one flat area. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Hank

I believe the handle hole is not round with a single flat side ( as described in my first message ), but instead a hexagon with six sides at the bottom of the handle hole. I have included a few new photos to attempt to show this. Once again, I thank you in advance. All my best, Hank

Thanks for reaching out to us. You're quite right; this is a very, very old awning window operator. I don't know for a fact but I believe that the original manufacturer was Andersen.

The bad news is that this hasn't been made in decades, which I'm sure you've already guessed. There also isn't a modern operator that is close enough to be a guaranteed replacement. The best options we have for you would be something like our 39-389 or 39-390, but if you're going to get these to work then it would probably require adaptation of the sill to accept the new style base, including but not limited to cutting the sill trim, drilling new holes, stuff like that.

Even assuming you did all that perfectly, there's still no guarantee these parts will work. The original is just too old.

I am sorry that we cannot offer you a more confident recommendation.
