Windows wont stay up!

Question

Just bought a home and a few windows slide up, but don't stay. They appear to be single hung.  I appreciate all the help and guides to fixing them so we can enjoy natural breeze.  Thank you

Thanks for reaching out to us. It sounds like a problem with the balance; these are spring mechanisms on either side of the window that keep it up when raised. When the springs fail, either due to age or damage, the window will droop after opening.

The bad news is that I can't identify what you have based on this sticker. I will need to see a photo of the balance itself, ideally in undamaged condition and removed from the window. If you want, you can just start with a preliminary photo of the balance in the track and I can then advise accordingly.

Balances come in an absolute ton of different varieties that all follow different rules and are all fairly complex. We like to be thorough when it comes to these parts, so I will very likely ask you for more photos and information as we proceed. Just something to consider.
