a vertical window put in horizontally

A quick learner from Lucedale, MS says:
I am doing remodel/repair work for a friend. Some one took a window that is supposed to slide up n down and installed it sideways. Opening the window isn't too bad but trying to close it next to impossible. How can I make the window slide easily?

Tom from SWISCO responded:

I'm not sure what you could do. The window would need to slide on a track and a guide/wheel in order to work properly. You are probably stuck with the window working the way it works. Maybe silicone spray would lubricate the tracks well enough to help out.

If the channel balances are installed in the window sideways, remove them. They will absolutely not work that way, and they would pull the window consistently in one direction, similar to the open/close issue you're having. That might help. Sorry that we can't offer much more advice than that.
