Handy Person from NC
I have a broken lock. The number on the back of it is 45189. I just received a replacement part from Swisco. do I need to replace the keeper as well?

Thank you for the photos! It depends on how old your window is. The 38-144 is a more modern part than what I've seen in most homes, so there is a chance that it won't be compatible with your original keepers.

With that in mind, it's always a safe bet to purchase the 38-276 and 38-277 keepers along with the 38-144 lock. These are explicitly made to work together and will allow you to confidently repair your window without worrying about keeper compatibility.

Since you already bought the 38-144 lock, go ahead and try installing it for now. If it works with your current keepers, then great. If not, our 38-276 and 38-277 are available for purchase at your convenience.
