Hello there. The mounting holes on the 83-040 measure 2-9/16", center-to-center. See the diagram below.

would you happen to have the same design (this looks exactly like what we had) but with 2.5" hole to hole that would connect to a door frame that is 2" wide

I'm afraid that we don't have a version of this handle with a 2-1/2" hole spacing. 2-9/16" is very, very close though. You may want to double check your measurement see if that's what you have. Make sure to only measure from the center of each hole, not their edge.
