24 inch window balance

A quick learner from Florida says:
I have an old 24" window balance with the stamp 23-3 on it. I do not see this part in your catalogue. is there an updated equivalent part?
Thanks

Tom from SWISCO responded:

I'm not sure what you have, unfortunately. We have dozens of different balances with that stamp. It's not a product code or anything, it just indicates the strength of the spring.

In order to figure out what Series this is, I need you to remove an undamaged version of this balance from the window and show me clear pictures of the top and bottom nylon fittings. I will also need to know the dimensions of these fittings.

A home owner from Florida says:

Thank you for the earlier response.

All of my balancers are broken so I cannot assemble a working model.

Below are photos of one of the balancers.

The nylon fitting at the spring end measures 1 inch long x 13/16 wide

The balancer channel outside dimension measures 5/8 inches

I hope this helps.....Thanks

These photos are a huge help, thanks! I appreciate the effort. Thanks to this data, I was able to narrow down the list of possible options to just one balance: our S377-24. This appears to have the same combination of nylon fittings as your original, with our 19-018 top and 15-005 attached to the ends. As long as those two pieces match then you should be good to go, so your next step would be to look those over to verify.

As far as the stamp, your old 23-3 marking translates to our modern 2330. Two balances with this stamp can carry 15 through 18 pounds. If you had any doubts, you can always weigh your sash to check and see if it falls within this range.
