Alliance Window repair parts

A handy person from Ocean City, NJ says:
I have several windows in a beach house that have broken tilt window latches, highly corroded pivot feet and a few broken springs. I think your 26-243 and 26-244 top tilt latches should work. I believe the channel is about 1 3/8" wide, so maybe I can use the 15-191 or 15-111 pivot foot? I'm not sure what coil or coil support I should use.

Hello,

Thanks for posting! From what I can see in your photos, your pivot shoe appears to be similar to an older, discontinued shoe. Your exact pivot shoe has been discontinued and is no longer available but the good news is that we do have a replacement that will work just as well.

Start with reviewing and comparing our 15-177 Coil Balance Shoe to your existing hardware. You will need to remove your shoe from the window to accurately compare the dimensions.

This shoe is compatible with the 1/2" thick Series 152 Coil Balance, which is secured to the shoe using the 33-072 screw. To determine the correct spring strength for a particular sash, you'll need to look for any stamps/markings on the metal coil(s) in the window.

If there are no stamps/markings or they are hard to read, you'll need to obtain the exact weight of your sash. Once you have the sash weight, you'll divide it by the number of coils in the window.

To replace the balance support cover, you'll need the 15-143 Coil Bushing, 15-144 Coil Bushing Cap, and the 15-145 Coil Support Barrel.

In regard to the tilt latches, I do agree that the 26-243 and 26-244 appear to be a good replacement match for them. However, you'll need to be sure to double check the dimensions to confirm.
