Certainteed casement egress

A quick learner from Washington State says:

Hello,

I have a certainteed casement window originally installed in my house 2004. I recently finished my basement and the inspector says this window doesn't meet bedroom egress as the opening is only 15.25 inches. Do you sell any hardware that would move the casement panel pivot point? Moving the pivot closer the outside of the window might get me a large enough opening. Or do you have any other suggestions on how to meet egress?

Thanks,

Jody

Hello,

Take a look at the 36-090-10 egress hinge. I have used this hinge in some windows in the past, which increased the sash opening by 3" to 4". In some windows, depending on the type of operator. I also had to move the operator over a few inches toward the hinge side by cutting the bottom sill trim. However, I believe you need a width of 20" to meet egress. You will need to check with your inspector.
