Channel Balance for Rollyson Windows

A home owner from 20165 says:
Hello. I'm looking to purchase replacement channel balances for the windows in my home. The home was built in 1991 and has Rollyson Aluminum windows. The length of the balances (only measuring the metal channel) is 31 inches. The stamp on the balances (shown in a photo) is "30 3 CK Caldwell". Using the balance selection tool on your website, the closest matches I was able to find were the Series 380 and Series 385. However, there were a couple of key difference I noted.

First, the bottom guide on my current balances measures at about 15/16" versus the 1" that would be expected for the Series 380 option. I'm not sure if this is close enough.

Second, my current channel balances are "hemmed" along the two edges of the metal channel. I included a photo showing this. It didn't look like the Series 380 or Series 385 had this "hemmed" metal channel and I wasn't sure if the absence would matter or not.

Thanks.

Hi there!

We appreciate you reaching out to us. I agree that it looks like your balance is a match for our Series 380 or Series 385 but I'm afraid we don't have a bottom fitting that measures 15/16" deep. It's possible that your bottom fitting was once 1" and simply wore down over time. You could always check an identical window's balance to confirm. Shaving down the Series 380's shoe to a 15/16" depth is also an option.

As for the "hemmed" part of the metal channel, I see no reason why our balances couldn't work despite this difference. That's not really an important detail.
