Channel Balances

A quick learner from San Bruno California says:
Hello,

I need to replace my window balance and before placing an order can you please confirm I have the right one. I am thinking it's an 18" series 380 S380-18 1720 option. I am not sure if the option is correct.

Thank You

Hi there!

This indeed could be the S380-18 if the bottom shoe measures 1" deep. However, please note that we also sell the S385-18 which is similar to the Series 380, but with a 1-3/32" deep shoe. It can be hard to read accurate dimensions from photos of a tape measure though so you will have to use your best judgement.

Regarding the stamp, the 17 9 numbers are from an older rating system that we don't use. As a result, you will need to weigh the window sash on a scale to determine if the 1720 option is the right stamp for your replacements. There's a chart under the product description on the S380-18 and S385-18 store pages that you can use as a reference.

Let me know if you have any questions!
