How to clear casement locks

A quick learner from los angeles says:
I have the Truth casement window locks, 38-075. They are working but some are very hard to lock and the handles won't go all the way down. Some look really dirty inside. Should I clean the insides, and if so, what should I use? And should those little gears be lubricated with something? Thanks!

Hello,

If the internal portion of your lock has a lot of buildup that could be preventing it from working properly, you could try using a damp cloth to wipe away any debris and a Q-tip to clean any hard-to-reach spots. You could also use a small amount of silicone spray on the internal gears. If the lock is still not functioning as intended after it is cleaned and lubricated, it may be time to replace it. Thanks for posting!
