A home owner from Washington State says:
I have a Ply Gem Pro Series 960s sliding patio door that I would like to replace the handle that came with it with one that has a key lock. Any suggestions?

Hello,

We'd be happy to help but we would need to see a photo of your original handle set and confirm the distance between the mounting holes to recommend a replacement for you. Thank you!

Want to change handle to locking with key from outside. This is a Ply Gem 960 sliding glass door.

Thanks for getting back to us. Your keeper resembles the 89-030 depending on how the dimensions below compare to yours.

As for the handle set, I'm a bit confused since the internal thumb latch and the external key lock would be used to engage the mortise lock, which the door panel shown in your photo does not have. Is there a mortise lock inside the door across from the panel shown in your photos? If so, that is the side that you would need to use a key lock on to engage the mortise lock, which would hook into the 89-030 keeper. If so, please show us a photo of the mortise lock. We'll also still need to confirm the hole spacing for your handle set, which I suspect may be 4-15/16".

Hopefully these photos help with figuring out what keyed lock I need. I didn't realize only one side could be the locking side!

Your mortise lock resembles the 82-238, which is commonly used with the 82-080 or keyed 82-081 handle sets.

With that being said, you'd need to confirm that the 4-15/16" hole spacing shown below matches yours. It looks like your mounting holes have small covers, which you'll likely need a slotted screwdriver to pop off. Take a look and see how the specifications of the 82-081 compare to yours.

Thank you so much for your help! It measured up to be the right size so fingers crossed as I order the 82-081!
