Replacement non-tilting window channel balance

A home owner from Oregon says:
Hi. I'd like a review to see if I have the right part. I think I need S385-26. I have a non-tilting window. The length of the metal frame is 26" and is 1/2" wide. It is stamped 2540 EE B.S.T. The bottom fitting depth is 1 1/16" and has wings 29/32" wide. The top fitting also has wings 29/32" wide and length from bottom of wing to top of plastic is 1 3/16". I believe you can see the hook attachment in the attached pictures. I also have a mystery piece that showed up on the floor when I removed the channel balance, not sure what that is but if you have any ideas would appreciate hearing them.

Hello,

I agree that your balance looks like a match to the S385-26 with a 2540 strength option. Please note that the bottom fitting measures 1-3/32" as shown below but it is not uncommon for the shoe to wear down a bit over time with regular use, which would account for your slightly smaller depth measurement.

As for the mystery piece that you found, I suspect that it may be a piece of a top sash guide, which would install on the top corners of the sash frame to hold the channel balance in place. If so, we would need to see an undamaged version removed from the other side or an identical window to compare to our inventory. Thank you!

Sorry for the slow response, we've had a lot of hot, smokey days here the last couple of weeks.

You were right, the mystery piece is from the top sash guide. From what I can tell, it appears to be a 18-008H.

I'm sorry to hear that. We've had a few smokey days on the East Coast as well due to the fires in Canada. Not the best conditions to be doing home repairs.

As for your top sash guide, I agree that yours looks like a match to the 18-008H as long as the dimensions below match up to yours.
