Satin Nickel Lever Handle Keeps Coming Loose!

A home owner from California says:
I installed a new Atrium lever lockset in satin nickel to replace a very old brass set. The outdoor satin nickel handle keeps coming off because it appears to only be held on by a small screw at the bottom of the latch and the screw keeps coming loose. Any ideas about how to fix this problem? Thanks!

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:

I have the same problem with a handle on my door at home. What I did was to purchase a tube of Loctite Thread lock. You want to then remove the set screw from the handle just enough so that you can put a few drops of the Loctite on the screw threads, then reinstall the set screw. The screw should stay tight so that the handle won't come loose anymore.

Also make sure that your door closes properly without too much force. Consistent strain from pulling too hard could be another reason the handle comes loose.

A home owner from California says:
Thank you, Dave. I'll try Loctite.
