Searching for Sim ton 5500 vinyl windows balance replacements

A quick learner says:

We need to replace balances on Simonton 5500 series vinyl replacement windows. We would like to do 1 window first. The coils have no stamp on them. The bottom sash weighs 18.6 #'s.The top sash weighs 17#'s. We have included pictures. Please make a list of the parts needed and we will place the order. Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Annette & Winston

Hello, thank you for posting,

Your windows use an older Simonton balance that is no longer made. We recommend converting to the 15-259 pivot shoe and the Series 159 coil springs. You will also need the 26-083 pivot bar.

Please review the step by step video below showing the conversion.

For a 18.6 pound window sash, you can use (1) S159-9 coil spring on each side of the window with the 15-255 single support.

For a 17 pound window sash, you can use (1) S159-8 coil spring on each side of the window with the 15-255 single support.

Please review and let me know if you have any additional questions.
