Shaft on key lock

How to figure the length of shaft on the key lock so is not to cut of to much and not fit in the mortise

Hello,

Your best bet would be to match the length of the original key lock spindle to the replacement before cutting it to size. If you do not have an existing key lock, I would recommend removing one notch at a time and testing it until it engages with the mortise lock in the proper position. Thanks for posting!
