Spiral balance replacement; identifying what we need.

A quick learner from Kalamazoo, MI says:

We own a 1992 modular home. The windows are probably original. BUT they are in good shape overall. They're double pane, "low maintenance", tilt in to clean. Metal window locks say "Carefree." Single hung. None leak.

Some of the windows are hard to open. Once opened, some don't STAY opened. We have a few different sizes. This is our bedroom. One spiral balance is actually missing.

Can you help us determine which parts we need to repair, please?

We currently have the screens out for repair and cleaning.

We'd like to repair all of the windows once we have it figured out. If it's like your videos, we do have the skills to do it ourselves. Thank you!

Hello,

If the window sash will not stay open, I agree that you would need to replace the spiral balances. We can't confirm the correct replacement with the balance still installed but you can start by comparing the (3/8") S900 and (5/8") S600 to yours. The determining factor would be the style of the spiral tip and the diameter of the housing tube. Take a look and let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

We watched some of your videos and have the measurements and weights we need if you can help determine which balance springs we need.

We need five sets (10) for the 21.6 lb. sash windows.

21.6#
25-9/16" length rod
Black tip

We need two sets (4) for the 15.4 lb. sash windows.

15.4#
26-1/2" length rod
Black tip

We are missing some stops too. And at least one little square to round receiver that's included in the picture 3 & 5, one side is there, one side is not. (Little, up top.)

It seems like you may be referring to the same spiral balances shown in your last post above. As we mentioned, you will need to confirm if the white cover of your spiral balance housing measures 3/8" or 5/8" in diameter to choose between the S900 and S600. Also, we do not carry replacement balances in 1/2" increments but you should be able to round up to use 26" and 27" replacements. We also have a chart under our product descriptions that shows the sash weight range supported by each color option.

As for your screen plug, take a look at the dimensions of the 26-200 below to determine if it could fit in your window jamb opening.
