It looks like 1 40. I'm not sure if there is a character between the 1 and the 40. It's in the pic.
The metal portion is 12 inches.

Thanks for reaching out! Your balances look like our S351-12 or our S390-12 with an 1140 stamp. To determine which of these balances in the series you'll need, confirm the measurement for the depth of the bottom shoe. It should either be 1" or 1-1/8". You may use either of the links above to place your order once you've confirmed the measurement.
