Window crank

A home owner from California says:

The rotating window crank gears are stripped. The hinges work fine after I added grease. Can I replace the crank or do I need the whole assembly? Can you identify the make/model?

Here are the dimensions of the base of the crank in front of the window frame:

- width (horizontal) is 5.5"

- two screws (not visible in pic) are 5.0" apart

- height (vertical) is 3/4"

The rotating window crank gears are stripped. The folding hinges behind the frame work fine after I added grease.

Can I replace the crank handle only or do I need the whole assembly with the folding hinges?

Can you identify the make/model?

Thank you

Greg

Take a look at our 39-089 operator. I think it looks like a good match but see  what you think.

A home owner from California says:
The 39-089 looks correct with one exception. The straight arm with the clip on the end where it connects to the window gears is longer than my original. You pic shows it as 5.0" and mine measures 3.5". My zigzag arm is also shorter (maybe 4.0") but there is no measurement for that piece on your site. I looked at the 39-187 which has a shorter zig zag, but a 5" straight arm (mine is 3.5"). Do you have one with 3.5" or might the 39-187 work anyway? I am concerned that the extra length might not allow the window to fully close. Thoughts?

Thanks for getting back to us. The 39-187 won't work for you. The gear arm is shaped like a "W" while yours is shaped more like a "Z." This may seem like a minor difference but it is important.

I'm confident the 39-089 is still the operator you want, but the length of the link arm being 3-1/2" will be an issue. Could you simply remount the bracket to which it connects? I can somewhat make it out under your sash in your first picture.

If not, then your only other option would be to drill out the link arms on both the old and new operator, then install the old link arm on the new operator using our 62-014 rivet.
