tilt window

A handy person from Arkport, ny says:

Both of the coils broke on my window. I have attached photos. The coil photo shows a 9 or a 6 ???.

The size is 18" x 29". It weighs approx 12 lbs. I need replacement coils for both sides.

It looks like it would be possible to put 2 coils on each side but there was only 1 on each side. Please tell me what I need to repair the window.

Hey James. Your pivot shoe looks like our 15-180, which uses Series 190 Coil Balances. If the window weighs 12 pounds, then you can use two of the S190-640 6 pound coil springs, one for each side of the sash. Based on that stamp on your old springs, this is probably exactly what your old setup was using. This coil balance system is modular, meaning you can reuse parts that aren't broken--but if you need new housing for the coils, the 15-186 Clip and 15-182 Bushing will work for you. The 15-186, as you can see, is meant to hold just one spring, and may prove easier to install back into the window because of this. Let me know if you have further inquiries.
