Thanks for posting, hopefully I can help. At first you mentioned that the top sash drops down when you close the bottom sash, leaving a gap where the locks don't mesh. This could be caused by a damaged interlock, either on the top or bottom sash. To confirm that, tilt in and remove both sashes and do a visual inspection of the interlocks. If there's any damage then it should be evident. As for the second problem, where there is a gap at the top right of the sash, it could be caused by a broken window balance. Again you would need to remove the sash and do a visual inspection. If you are not sure, send photos of the balance itself after you remove it and I will do my best to help. |

I recognize some of your window parts like, the 15-015 pivot shoe and the old style Series 600 balance with the plastic casings. Your problem might be that the spiral balances need to be recharged. To do that, you will need to remove the securing screw holding the spiral to the pivot shoe and then use a tool like our 75-006 to give the spiral another turn or two to build up the tension. If you don't feel the tension building, after 2 turns, then you need new balances. The Series 600 ought to work perfectly fine. We pulled up self help videos on your type of window, as well. |
