do i need to replace my spring?

Hello,

While trying to loosen the spring on window sash, I snapped the base of the right spring. No the spring won't stay in holder when I open the window. Is there anything i can do or do I have to purchase a new spring?

When I moved into my condo, I found out all my windows were super hard to open. Found out the hard way that they need to be loosened.

My windows are also larger than what I've see. In YouTube videos, so it's harder for me to remove.

It sounds like you need a new balance, especially if you broke part of it off. Since this is a tilt window, you likely have either our Series 900 (3/8" diameter tube) or Series 600 (9/16" diameter tube).
