the height of the coil housing is *3 1/8" from the bottom screw to the top of the plastic guard. the window channel is approx. 1 3/8" wide x 9/16" deep.
based on your formula, i believe these are 15 lb. balances.
need to replace these window coil balances

Thanks for posting. The formula you mentioned actually isn't the most accurate way to determine sash weight. Is it possible for you to weigh the sash on a scale? In this situation I think it would be better. Thank you!

I was able to borrow a scale and the weight of the sash is approx. 28.2 lbs.
Can you please tell me the coils I need and the corresponding shoes to match.
I need to replace all the coils and shoes for two windows of the same weight. I am not able to use either window because there is no coil support left.
Please help.

Perfect, thanks. I believe the pivot shoe could be our 15-111, but you will need to compare our measurements and pictures to your own shoe to confirm. As for the coil spring, with a sash weight of 28 pounds I recommend an S160-7 spring on each side. Each individual S160-7 spring can hold a sash weight of 7.5 pounds.
