the old window channel won't attach to the take out clip

A home owner from COLORADO says:
I'm not able to swing the window out since the broken window channel won't attach to the take out clip. Is there a work around or do I need professional help. Thank you, Rod

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Did you pull out take out clips on both sides of the window track? Did the one balance shoot out above the sash? If so, you may need new Top Sash Guides; see the video below, as well as the second one about non-tilt window channel balance replacement. If that doesn't help, try this: as you raise the sash above the takeout clips, the one side balance should lock on to the take out clip. Wearing a work glove, try to push down on the broken balance below the sash just enough so you can push the sash to that side and swing out the opposite side. You will probably need a helping hand to do this.
