which window balance part should I be buying

A home owner from Florida says:
We prchs'd a custom home from 2004 with PGT windows, out of the 11 windows, 5 have balances that no longer work, the picture shows the balance, looking to verify if I need to buy 29" balances.

Your balance may actually still be functional, but the top sash guide is broken. These are little caps on the two top corners of the sash that keep the balance in place. When they broke, likely due to sun exposure making them brittle, the balance shoots up in the track.
