How to install the IPD sliding door handle assembly

Note: For use on an IPD Swinger or Slider style unit
Determine The Handing
  • The screen panel should share the same latch and lock jamb as door unit.
  • If the screen is handed incorrectly see directions below on how to reverse the assembly.
Note: the IPD logo should be at the top of the inside of the escutcheon assembly
Install The Sliding Screen Panel In The Frame
  • Remove the roller protection clips from the screen panel.
  • First, locate the top rollers on the head head screen track. Then pivot to vertical position while pushing up (which will compress the top rollers) and locate bottom rollers on the bottom screen track.
Adjust The Rollers And Inspect The Door Operation
  • Using a Phillips head screwdriver, adjust the bottom rollers until the panel is plumb and level. Next, adjust the top rollers for a snug fit.
  • Check for a smooth and uninterrupted movement of the screen panel. If necessary, adjust the top door rollers.
Install The Latch Keeper
  • Determine the latch keeper's location by pulling the sliding screen door to an almost closed position and mark the center location of the latch.
  • For Slider Style Doors: Remove the tab from the latch keeper.
Break the tab off the keeper.

  • Attach the latch keeper at the marked location with the included screws (do not fasten tightly yet).
  • Pull the sliding screen to a closed position and check for engagement of the latch and keeper. Adjust the keeper up or down as required, then tighten the screws.
  • Attach the bumper approximately halfway up on the fixed jamb with the included screw and bumper.
Escutcheon Assembly Reversal Procedure
  • Remove the two mounting screws.
  • While holding the inside of the escutcheon and lever, remove the outside escutcheon.
  • Pivot and pull to remove the inside escutcheon and lever.
  • Remove the lever from the inside escutcheon and rotate it 180 degrees.
  • Reinstall the lever in the inside escutcheon.
  • While holding the inside escutcheon and lever, reinstall the outside escutcheon.
  • Reinstall the two mounting screws. Be careful not to over tighten the screws.
