why is the top spiral balance short

A quick learner says:
why is the top spiral balance of my window shorter then bottom one.
Top = 28in Bottom is 32in. I order a S900-28 red tip and it should have been S600 red tip. Can I still use this for my window?

Hello,

If your spiral balances have a 5/8" diameter tube, I would not recommend trying to use the narrower S900 balances since they could buckle under the weight of your window. If you'd like to send back the S900 balances that you purchased and order the S600-28 replacements, our return policy can be found here

It is also not uncommon for the top and bottom sashes to use balances that are slightly different lengths if the sashes are different sizes. Thanks for posting and let us know if you need anything else!
