Viking window channel balances

A quick learner from Portland Oregon says:
Hello,

Pictured is a channel balance,
Labeled BSI 2530,
Aluminum channel without the plastic ends is 26"
The sash that it was mounted on is 28 1/2 " wide and 27" high.

This is the only remaining window balance in the house, all are Viking brand, one is identical in size to the first one mentioned:
28 1/2 "w x 27"h
others are:
32 3/8 "w x 27"h,
32 3/8 "w x 26 7/8 "h,
24"w x 24" h,

Thank you so much for your help!

Thanks for posting. The balance in your photos looks like an S395-26. Please compare. For a stamp option choose 2530.

If the other windows in the house lack existing balances, I believe we can still help, though we'll need more information. Most likely they too used the Series 395, though ultimately we can't be certain without seeing originals. Please give me the height of visible glass for each window. I will also need the weight of each of these window sashes. From there we'll do our best to narrow down what might work for you.

A quick learner from Portland Oregon says:
Hello Bob,

Thank you for your very prompt reply, I really appreciate it.

I have some additional information on the three windows with unknown balances.

Window A, with a visible glass size of 29 5/8" wide by 24 1/2" high, and a sash weight of 15 lb 14 oz

Window B, with a visible glass size of 21 3/8" wide by 21 3/8" high, and a sash weight of 10 lb 6 oz

Window C, with a visible glass size of 29 3/4" wide by 24 1/2" high, and a sash weight of 16 lbs

Thanks again for your help,
David

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Thanks, David! Now, assuming that these windows are the same model as the one that still has its balances, we can reasonably guess that the balance model is the same as what we've already picked out. That is to say, our Series 395.

Using the measurements and weights provided, and with the above assumption in mind, I would suggest the following parts:

  • Window A: S395-25 with a 2430 stamp
  • Window B: S395-22 with a 2120 stamp
  • Window A: S395-25 with a 2430 stamp

These suggestions unfortunately aren't guarantees, but I think they're well worth considering. You can also review our return policy here if you wanted peace of mind before you place an order.

Hey there, I just wanted to add my two cents to Bob's recommendations above. I've worked on Viking windows quite a bit in my time and the Series 395 that he picked out is a very common sight for this brand. I think it's a good pick, so at this stage it's just a matter of trying out those sizes. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you both so much, I appreciate the help!
